The KLANGBADHALL festival is breaking new ground in 2021. For the first time, the cultural highlight of the spa town will be presented as an open-air event. The operetta "Der Vogelhändler" by Carl Zeller, will be performed amidst birdsong in the picturesque setting of the unique spa gardens. Between the inspiring works of art of the exhibition "Fairy Tales, Myths, Legends", a unique musical theatre spectacle will make the hearts of operetta lovers beat faster.
With this, the municipal theatre is wandering a little back to its roots. Where Gustav Mahler once delighted his audience just around the corner in the middle of the spa gardens, a star ensemble will fill the park air with artistic enjoyment, acting esprit and musical mastery under the directorship of Ernst Theis and the direction of Wolfgang Gratschmaier in front of the graceful architecture of the "Alter Badhaus".
With The Bird Seller, first performed in 1891 at the Theater an der Wien, Carl Zeller (1842-1898) and his librettists created one of the most successful operettas of its time, indeed of the genre as a whole. This is probably also due to the fact that the ingredients of this well-constructed musical comedy of mistaken identity are perfectly balanced for stage effect: lots of rural idyll, plenty of folksiness, a strong pinch of eroticism, a good portion of emotion and plenty of catchy melodies.
Look forward to balmy summer evenings in the Kurpark Bad Hall, when it's "Greetings, all of you" with Vogelhändler Adam...

In 2021, the Municipal Theatre of Bad Hall will once again bring the hit musical "HAIR" to the stage and offer the culture-hungry audience entertainment at the very highest level. With the successful team of the MTA "Musical Theatre Adademy" directed by Susanne Kerbl, musical direction by Gottfried Angerer and choreography by Alexander Novikov, the reputation of the production preceded it, which was frenetically celebrated by the audience and the press without reservations.
"Hair" is considered one of the most successful musicals of all time, a milestone of late 1960s pop culture. It brings the lifestyle of the hippie movement, the "flower children", to the stage. It shows the restlessness, the cry of protest, provocative action and mystical escape from reality through drug use of the young generation. The demand for sexual freedom, pacifism, struggle against social dogmas and racism spread to many industrial nations of the western world.
Even 50 years after its premiere, red-hot topics.
